England played the third ODI against the Netherlands on the 22nd of June at Amstelveen.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. ENG has won two matches against them in the three-match series and has already won the series. They will be looking for a clean sweep against the Dutch, whereas NL will be looking for at least a single win in the series.

First Innings

The first innings started slowly as the batters of NL were looking to settle down and make a fighting total against ENG, while they lost the first wicket in the form of Vikramjit Singh in the fifth over when Malan took the catch.

Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper started to build a slow but crucial partnership where they both together contributed 72 runs, and Dowd even completed his half-century. Tom lost his wicket while trying to hit the ball for the boundary and gave an easy catch to Liam Livingstone.

The NL was in trouble again. There weren’t many runs on the scoreboard as they had lost their well-settled batsman. Then Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards handled the situation as they both formed a partnership of 84 runs and even completed their half-centuries and added valuable runs on the scoreboard.

For the loss of all their wickets, David Willey took four wickets, and Brydon Carse took two, limiting the Dutch to a total of 244 runs.

Second Innings

The second innings started with great potential as Jason Roy and Phil Salt hit stunning boundaries and played great cricketing shots. Jason completed his half-century soon as then there were two frequent falls of wickets in the same over as Paul van Meekeren took the wickets of Phil and Dawid in the same over.

Jason was unstoppable as he got the support of Jos Buttler and soon completed his century. Both of them together were looking stunning as the astonishing sixes were coming from Buttler’s bat as he completed his half-century. Both together formed a partnership of 163 runs and helped ENG win the match and give the Dutch a clean sweep of 3-0.

Awards

In the end, Jason Roy was chosen as the Man of the Match for his outstanding hundred, and Jos Buttler was declared the Player of the Series for scoring 248 runs in the tri-series.
