Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants took on each other in match number 26th in Mumbai on 16th April. Both teams have played 5 games each where the Super Giants have won 3 games so far of the 5 while Mumbai is still looking for their first win.

Mumbai Indians were finding them in a must-win situation as they have lost back-to-back all their last 5 matches. Sadly, some of their Biggest Buys have also not been able to perform well and stand up for their team. And even after the formation of the new team, their bowling hasn’t been quite the same as it used to be.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first. This wat, the Super Giants started great as the openers put up a partnership of 52 runs on the board when the powerplay ended. The outstanding 100 by KL Rahul took the total of their team to a great high and with the contribution of Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey they put up a total of 199 for the fall of just 4 wickets. The magnifying knock by Captain KL made the winning percentage of the opponent team low.

While it was mesmerizing to watch the batting of the Giants, it was also seen that Mumbai Indians were in great trouble at the bowling end as Rohit Sharma changed 6 bowlers in the first 6 overs itself and their fielding for what they are known was also not seen to the mark as there were many misfields which was another reason for such a big total to be put on in front of them.

It was time for Mumbai to come out to bat but the bad form of their opening batsmen Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan still continued, and that too, with the quick fall of wickets. It seemed quite difficult for them to chase the score because of the quick fall of wickets.

Then came to bat their middle order in which Dewald Brevis played a firing knock of 31 runs in just 13 balls including 6 fours and a big hit.
Where SuryaKumar Yadav the only in-form batsman in the MI squad with Kieron Pollard and Tilak Varma tried hard to chase the runs down.

In the chase, Mumbai Indians surely fought hard till the end but the five-time champions once again finished being the losing side. They were restricted to 181 for 9 having got their sixth successive defeat in this IPL 2022 season.

As the match ended KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants won the Man Of The Match award for his memorable 100. During the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma the captain of Mumbai Indians said, “It is hard to put in words. Mentions that 199 on this pitch was chaseable and they needed partnership but lacked that.”
