Ben Legg has been appointed as the Managing Director for Ola‘s recently announced UK operations. Legg is tasked with leading and developing the senior leadership team, driving strategy and operations, along with helping the cab-hailing service provider to establish a nationwide presence in the UK by the end of this year.

The UK is Ola’s second overseas market this year after it had launched its operations in Australia at the start of this year. Ola has obtained licences to operate in Greater Manchester and South Wales. It will be launching its South Wales operations in the coming weeks.

“I’m excited to be joining Ola as it launches in the UK. I, for one, don’t own a car and strongly believe that through innovative services like Ola working in conjunction with local authorities we can help to reduce traffic congestion and pollution, and improve mobility,” said Ben Legg, managing director of Ola UK.

Before joining Ola, Legg was the CEO of New York-based global marketing technology company, AdParlor for two years. Prior to that, he was group CEO of Adknowledge, a digital advertising technology firm. He has also been a COO for Google Europe.

Legg’s vast experience will help Ola to expand its presence in the UK, as the cab-hailing service provider ventures into the unknown market.

Recently, Temasek had acquired a secondary stake in Ola for ₹1,545 crores, these were purchased from the early investors in the startup. This will further help the cab-hailing startup to enable its expansion goals.
