Zomato started as a restaurant search and discovery service in 2008. It was founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. Zomato has recently entered into the food delivery business and it also has a global presence in over 23 countries.

Food delivery business contributed to about 30 percent of overall revenues generated by Zomato in the FY2018. It is an important aspect of Zomato’s business and they are looking to consolidate their logistics and business. They have also put Mohit Kumar in charge of the logistics aspect of the food delivery business, he was earlier heading the online food ordering business.

Zomato has established itself in the food delivery business following the footsteps of Swiggy. Swiggy is one of the main competitors of Zomato in the online food ordering and delivery business. There are many more food delivery businesses that pose a challenge to Zomato’s growth, some of these are, Foodpanda, Uber Eats, Faaso’s. They all have a good delivery network, Zomato needs to step up there game if they need to stay competitive in the business.
