Huawei Mate SE is nothing more than a slightly upgraded version of the Honor 7X, a mid-range smartphone that’s been launched in the United States late last year. Starting today, the Mate SE is even more appealing since Huawei has started to roll out the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 oreo update. The update is now rolling out to the Mate SE users in Canada. However, the company said that it will soon roll out to other regions as well.
More details about the update:
The update weighs in at around 2.4GB, way larger than the usual 1GB-1.5GB standard and it is recommended to download with a stable Wi-Fi connection. If the update notification is not showing up on your Mate SE smartphone, just head over to settings-update to get the upgrade.
EMUI 8.0 brings a series of incredible features such as quick shortcut menus, usage-based performance optimization and simplified phone settings that greatly enhance the functionality.
Key highlights of EMUI 8.0 include:-
- Quick shortcut menus from app icons
- New floating navigation dock
- Updated Setting menu and Phone Manager
- Photo gallery recycle bin
- Seamless LinkedIn integration
- Link up two Bluetooth devices
- Face unlock
EMUI 8.0 first debuted on Huawei’s Mate 10, which touted AI features that complement the Kirin 970’s Neural Processing Unit. Huawei’s new devices, like the P20 and the P20 Pro, are now shipping with EMUI 8.1. These are bundled with Android 8.1 Oreo. Huawei has already upgraded Honor 7X devices to Oreo-based EMUI 8.0.
