Smartphones that catches fire is a daily chore. However, here there is some interesting news, as the cheapest 4G feature phone, the JioPhone catches fire in Jammu and Kashmir when it was kept for charging. However, the Jio blames the competition and says it’s an intentional sabotage from the competition.

Behind the scenes:

According to the post published on PhoneRadar, Indian tech portal, a Jiophone unit was completely burnt when it was kept for charging, for the extent where the back casing of the phone was completely melted down. However, the report doesn’t reveal the name of the user, that the device belongs to. According to the first-hand inspection, the battery of the phone was intact, so does the front.

According to the Lyf distributor, the battery is intact and is still in working condition. However, the charger is completely melted down, which means, this whole incident has happened due to a faulty charger (3rd party charger).

Here is the official press release from the Reliance Retail store spokesperson:

“JioPhones are designed and manufactured with global standards, and each phone goes through stringent quality control process. The said incident has been reported to us. Our initial investigation suggests that this is a case of intentional sabotage. The damage to the device seems to have been intentionally caused. The incident, as well as its timing, has been designed by vested interests to malign the brand. We will take appropriate action based on further investigations.”

So, what do you think about this whole incident? Is this a case of Intentional sabotage? or there is any compromise in the build quality to reduce the overall cost of the phone. One thing that we always suggest for our user base is, never use third-party accessories like battery or charger as they might take a life of the device and yours as well.
