United Kingdom lawmakers have on Tuesday called upon British Prime Minister Theresa May to pay attention to any alternative for Brexit strategy which they can settle on after they attempted to break Brexit impasse by taking control over the parliament agenda.

According to Reuters news reports, the government has insisted that the deal which May had agreed with the EU (European Union) in November remained the only option for Britain’s withdrawal from the bloc. However, that deal of May has been twice voted down in the parliament.

An opposition lawmaker who chairs a parliament committee on Brexit, Hilary Benn, said, “If parliament is able to come up with a way forward, the question is whether the government is prepared to compromise.”

Benn stressed the government could ignore the indicative votes and further pressed on with May’s plan.

He said, “That is indeed possible, but it is not an argument for not trying because we are in a complete mess. The government is in chaos.”

The possible options for May’s deal include revoking Article 50 divorce process, no-deal Brexit, staying in the bloc’s single market, and a free trade pact with a customs union.

Three lawmakers from prime minister’s conservative party have resigned on Monday with one of the lawmakers, Steve Brine saying, “The bottom line is that something has got to change. We are stuck in this maddening impasse where we go round and round in circles, something has to move us forward. The House of Commons is not going to come up with something completely crazy.”
