MG Motor India Confirms Another Price Hike On Flagship Models

One thing that will surely not go in favour of MG Motor India is this fourth price hike. With the festive season arriving, almost every carmaker are offering massive discounts on their portfolio and a price hike from MG sounds like a big turn off to every single customer in India.

Input costs are one of the major disadvantages from the brand’s point of view. But, watching customers getting disrupted because of the same is quite disheartening. Planning to buy Hector, Hector Plus or Gloster? Then, be ready to pay up to Rs.50,000 depending upon the model as well as the variants.

The best seller for MG Motor India is definitely the most affected one by this price hike. Just to be precise, 2021 Hector gets costlier by up to Rs.50,000 depending upon the variant.

Major Highlights:

Starting with the most exciting part and to begin with, the features available on Hector has played a major role in determining its overall sales. It comes loaded with a panoramic sunroof, six airbags, a 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system and multiple USB charging ports among others.

Powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine it churns out a decent 141BHP and 250Nm of peak torque. There’s even a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a massive 167BHP and 350Nm of peak torque.

After this price hike, MG Hector starts at Rs.13.49 Lakhs and goes all the way up till Rs.19.35 Lakhs for the top-end variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Gloster

Next is the all-new Gloster that gets costlier by up to Rs.40,000. With this price hike, it now starts at Rs.29.98 Lakhs with the top-end variant priced at Rs.37.68 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Major Highlights:

One can definitely call it a beast as the dimension numbers claimed by MG Motor are massive when we talk about the all-new Gloster.

Feature-wise, it is available with a set of large 19-inch alloy wheels, a 4WD system, three-zone climate control, six airbags and a 12.28-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Currently, it uses a 161BHP, 2.0-litre turbo or 215BHP, 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine.

Hector Plus

Last but not least is the Hector Plus which is a practical version of Hector with a 6 or a 7-seater layout. As per the recent report, it gets costlier by up to Rs.42,000.

Major Highlights:

The powerplants available on Hector Plus are exactly the same as what the brand offers on the standard Hector. To differentiate, it comes with a grille finished in chrome, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and constrained boot space to name a few.

Alternatives

In India, Hector compares with some other compact SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Skoda Kushaq. Meanwhile, it is the Hector Plus that goes head-on against the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. MG Gloster on the other hand compares with full-size SUVs such as Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X.
