Tata Nexon Vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Sub four-meter SUVs played a significant role as disruptors not only in India but globally as well. The segment was initially aimed at perfect city rides because of the prescribed length. However, it also came with other surprises that allowed it to be a chartbuster, especially in India. Today, we have two of the best sub-four meter SUVs with us. Can we go for Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza or is the updated Nexon that is perfect in today’s world? Well, let’s head straight towards the detail and find out which one suits your requirements better.

Tata Nexon

An aggressive design language and a 5-star rating made the all-new Nexon an overnight star.  Talking about the first impression, it feels modern enough in terms of design, gets massive 206mm ground clearance and also brings unmatched safety to keep your loved ones safe.

When compared to Vitara Brezza, the cabin of Nexon feels modern enough. For starters, the dashboard comes finished with a dark shade with a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system proudly sitting at the centre. Other impressive features such as a fully digital driver’s display, electric sunroof, 8-speaker surround sound system and cooled glovebox are also better than what Maruti Suzuki offers on the Vitara Brezza.

Nexon is currently one of the safest cars in India with a 5-star rating scored at the Global NCAP. Making it safer are the basic safety aids such as dual airbags, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The diesel motor available on Nexon does give Tata Motors an upper hand over many of its competitors. For your information, it is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with overall output rated at 108BHP and 260Nm. There’s even a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor that churns out 118 horsepower and 170Nm of peak torque. Sadly, unlike the diesel engine, this one is a three-cylinder unit with refinement levels rated as above average.

Call it dated but the new Vitara Brezza has enough fanbase to demolish many of its rivals. At the end of the day, everybody looks it as a perfect product while keeping in mind the extreme road conditions it can easily cruise on. Thankfully, Maruti Suzuki has also decided to offer customisation options to offer an individual feel to different kinds of customers.

Just like the overall design, even the interior of this SUV feels slightly dated. The brand just to enhance the overall ambience has introduced a darker upholstery. Feature-wise, the 2021 Vitara Brezza is loaded with a simple multifunction steering wheel, push-button stop-start, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat and a dual din 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system depending upon the variant.

With a four-star Global NCAP rating, it comes equipped with safety aids such as dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS and EBD as standard.

Maruti Suzuki believes that diesel engines will attract a higher manufacturing cost when the next stricter emission norms will be announced. Considering the future, the brand is strictly sticking to a sole 1.5-litre four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that propels a decent 103BHP and 138Nm. The refinement levels of this motor are top-notch but the absence of a diesel engine makes Nexon a better choice, at least for now.
