The Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia has announced that the government has launched youth helpline numbers called as “YUVA” especially for students.

The students residing in Delhi can call this helpline in order to seek career guidance, academic counselling  or help over any psychological issues. Currently there are two youth helpline numbers- 180011688 and 10580.

Mr. Sisodia on the launch of YUVA helpline said that the government is committed to ensure mental wellbeing of all students during the time of pandemic as no students should be left behind in any terms due to lack of moral support.

He added that whenever a student feels that he or she is under immense stress and are moving towards the state of depression, they must call the Delhi government’s youth helpline without having any second thought.

Delhi government has appointed trained counselors and educationists to guide students who contact via this helpline. Any individual can call the helpline between 7:30 AM to  8:30 PM on all working days.

The YUVA helpline is being operated and managed under the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT). According to recent data presented by the Council, 250 to 300 calls are received daily on an average basis.

According to the officials of Delhi government, the identity of caller will be kept confidential in case they seek help over mental issues. And if required, necessary medical support will also be provided for overall wellbeing.

The officials added that the career guidance and counselling for all individual will be absolutely free. Also, Anyone can call the helpline to get information regarding admissions in various educational institutes.

The government’s motive behind launch of this helpline number is to facilitate and guide such students who are affected due to the unfavorable situations of COVID-19 pandemic and changes brought in lifestyle due to it.

students are mostly worried about their career or future and exam results. Many of them also faces difficulty in adopting to new methods of learning and are still uncomfortable to online studies.
