The Maharashtra Sports University at Balewadi (Pune) has announced that it will be offering two new bachelor courses for all students from the upcoming academic session 2021-22.

This new bachelor courses are- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Sports Science and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Sports management. The duration for both of this courses will be three years.

The admission process for both of this courses will begin in October, 2021. The university will currently offer admissions over 60 seats per course which might be increased in the next academic session.

Once the Sports university becomes functional, it will release a detailed schedule for this admissions along with an informative brochure regarding this new bachelor courses.

The government of maharashtra has issued a special budgetary provision of Rs 400 crore for development of the university and this courses. The University has also planned to establish different centres across the state.

The sports minister of Maharashtra, Sunil Kedar has said that a vice-chancellor and other faculties for the university will be appointed very soon so that the admission process can be initiated.

The University will also be hiring for supporting faculty, staff members and other officials on 213 posts at different levels so that all the process can be done smoothly and without any delay.

Mr. Kedar highlighted that this institute is maharashtra’s first and one of its kind sports university which will produce sportsperson and coaches of international- level calibre.

The university will also make sure that it chooses and trains such athletes or sportsperson who can represent the country at international stage in near future.

The state government has also planned to upgrade the Balewadi Sports stadium so that adequate on-ground training can be provided under this courses along with routine theory classes.

Mr. Omprakash Bakoria, the Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra, has informed that the sports university will collaborate with IIM-Ahmedabad and IIT-Bombay to prepare the curriculum of various courses.
