BBC Studios is currently working on the drama series based on the final months of “blonde bombshell” Marilyn Monroe’s life. The series has been given a tentative title ‘The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe’ for now.

The drama series will explore her involvement with Hollywood studios and with public personalities such as former US President John F Kennedy and Robert F Kennedy.

The show will be based on parts of Keith Badman’s book ‘The Final Years of Marilyn Monroe: The Shocking True Story’, the studio said in a statement.

Monroe is one of the most famous Hollywood icons ever and she died in 1962 at a young age of 36. Her death was shocking, unexpected and a suspected suicide.

The network’s production and commercial arm, BBC studios have joined hands with Dan Sefton and Simon Lupton’s UK indie producer Seven Seas Films for the series.

The producers said that the series would cover a period in which her behavior became increasingly unusual as her dependence on alcohol and medication caused her glittering film career to fall.

Sefton, who is set to write the series, said, “Marilyn’s desire to be taken seriously as an actress and her battle with the powerful men who control the studio system is sad as relevant today as it ever was.”
