Actor Rajkummar Rao, who was seen in Mikhil Musale directorial film Made In China earlier this year, is all set to star in Ronnie Screwvala’s production comedy, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror. Screwvala, who has produced films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, will be teaming up with Raaj Shaandilyaa for the film. Shaandilyaa made his directorial debut with Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl earlier this year.

The yet-untitled film will be directed by debutant Ishrat R Khan, who has earlier assisted director Anees Bazmee on Deewangee, No Entry, Welcome and Welcome Back. He has also worked as associate director in Shaandilyaa’s debut film.

The report quoted a source close to the development as saying, “When Ronnie, Raaj and Ishrat narrated the script to Rajkummar he loved the comedy of errors. He has already given his nod to the project, the formalities will be completed by January.”

Shaandilyaa and his team of writers unanimously agree that the actor is the best choice for the role. “Raj fits the character like a glove and everyone is hopeful about getting him on board,” the source told the news daily.

The film is expected to go on floors by mid-2020, and the producers are keen to release it later in the year.
