Japanese OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Sharp has announced Sharp Aquos R6. It is the successor to Sharp Aquos R5. The smartphone offers high-end flagship specifications like a 1-inch camera sensor at the rear and a staggering 240Hz super-fast refresh rate for the AMOLED panel. The device is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC.
Sharp Aquos R6 Specifications
Sharp Aquos R6 is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, coupled with Adreno 660 GPU. The smartphone comes with a single configuration of 12GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The smartphone runs on Android 11 OS out-of-the-box.
Coming to the display, the device boasts a 6.67-inch WUXGA + Pro IGZO 2K+ Curved AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,730 pixels and a dynamic 1Hz to whopping 240Hz fast refresh rate, which allows the display to find a perfect balance between smoothness and power saving. The display has a contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, and supports HDR. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is built into the display that is powered by Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max chip that enables two-finger unlocking as well. Sharp claims that it increases the security by 11 times as compared to the conventional fingerprint scanner.
As for the camera, which is the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of the device, it comes with a single 20MP Leica sensor with f/1.9 aperture with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), coupled with a 12.6 ToF lens. The sensor at the rear is the first-ever camera on a mobile phone to feature a 1-inch sensor, which is normally seen in point-and-shoot cameras. The camera, developed by Sharp and Leica, can capture excellent images in low light with significant noise reduction. It also uses 7 element Leica Summicron for high-resolution photographs. At the front, a 12MP selfie snapper is placed under the center-aligned punch hole.
The mobile phone carries a 5,000mAh battery with Intelligent Charge 2.0 fast charging technology. It ships with IPX8-rating for dust and water resistance.
Sharp Aquos R6 Availability
Sharp Aquos R6 comes in two colors: Black and White. The smartphone will be available in Japan as well as in a few other European countries. Its arrival in India is wildly uncertain. After the device’s market launch in June, more information on pricing and availability will be announced.
