Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p

Xiaomi has launched a home security camera named “Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p” in India. The product will go on sale in India from tomorrow in Mi.com starting at 12 noon. According to the company, the camera will provide “intelligent detection” along with “excellent security surveillance”. The camera is capable of recording video at FHD 1080p resolution at up to 20 frames per second. The price of the camera is ₹1,999, nevertheless, according to the listing page the original price of the camera is ₹2,999 and ₹1,999 is a discounted price.

The camera also comes equipped with night vision along with an ultra-wide angle with a 130-degree field of view. The product description states that the camera has a 10-meter range in the infrared mode or night mode. The camera comes with 10 large 940nm infrared dimming lamps that help in delivering night vision range up to 10 meters. There is also a talkback feature in the camera that will let users make video calls to monitor the surrounding that the camera is covering. Given it is a security camera, Xiaomi is claiming that it comes with artificial intelligence-powered motion detection feature in the software.

The software has an intelligent algorithm that helps the camera in filtering false alarms such as curtain movements, insects or changes in lights. In order to turn on the AI-powered motion detection feature, users will have to turn it on manually in the app. Once enabled, the camera will send push notifications to the user whenever motion is detected.

The mobile app for the camera comes with a Picture-in-Picture(PiP) feature which allows users to keep a track of whatever is happening while doing other things on their smartphones simultaneously. Notably, the PiP feature is only available for Android smartphones and not for iOS devices. In case a user has multiple security cameras then they can easily monitor multiple rooms on a single screen. The camera supports microSD cards as well as NAS (Network-attached Storage) device to store the recorded footage.
