Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a Cabinet meeting today on assessing Maharashtra’s flood situation. From here, he announced Rs. 6813 crore as assistance for the flood-affected regions of the state.

The Chief Minister has also held a meeting on 7th August to review the flood situation in his state that has devastated the considerable part of the state. Since Kolhapur and Sangli have been described as one of the worst-hit districts because of the flood, these areas have received maximum aid from the Fadnavis government.

The financial assistance has been divided as per the severity of the disaster in the region. Rs. 4708 crore has been allocated for Kolhapur, Sangli & Satara. Konkan region, Nashik & rest of the affected districts have got Rs. 2105 crore.

NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams have been deployed in the worst-affected areas for spearheading the rescue operations. The team has also set up a medical camp on Haripur road.

Owing to the good attention by media to the hardships of the people in affected areas, people from all over the country are coming forward to help. Recently, Celebrity stars Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh contributed Rs. 25 lakh to Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Even commoners are showing solidarity to the affected victims. Aurangabad District Cooperative Milk Producer Union contributed Rs. 25 lakh to Chief Minister’s relief fund.

In the previous week, Devendra Fadanavis also sought Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to seek help for rescue measures by deploying agencies like NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), Indian Army, Air Force, and Coast guards.

As a goodwill gesture, all the Ministers of Maharashtra Cabinet have also decided to donate their one month’s salary for relief cause.
