Today is going to be an important day for SpaceX and Elon Musk. After seven years of delay, SpaceX is finally launching the new Falcon Heavy rocket tonight. The company has been working on this project for years. It is to be launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This is going to be a test mission, to find out if a rocket can send a payload in to the space.

The entrepreneur has posted pictures on instagram of the payload: his very own car, Tesla Roadster. From the photographs it can be depicted that Elon is sending a dummy as well with the car. The dummy is placed in the driver’s seat and is wearing the SpaceX space suit. The rocket has 2 Falcon 9 rocket mounted on it. This makes the rocket very powerful. Each of these Falcon 9 rockets have nine main rocket engine which in total is 27. If this rocket launch would become a success, then it could open a new line of business for SpaceX. They could get projects of sending heavier satellites to the orbit to sending people to space.

The Falcon Heavy is supposed to place the car into an orbit around the Sun known as a Hohmann transfer orbit. This path will take the car as far away from the Sun of that of the Mars. The falcon Heavy will launch with it’s three cores together and break the two outer core. After the whole process, parts of Falcon Heavy are reusable and will attempt to land back to the Earth. The vehicle is for now booked for launching large communications satellite for operator Arabsat of Saudi Arabia if it’s a success.
