After Bangladesh in the UAE in 2016, Sri Lanka became the team chasing a massive total.

They also chased their second-highest total in the history of Sri Lankan cricket.

Match Details

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh came head-to-head in a knockout match on September 1st.

It was a knockout match to reach the next stage of the Asia Cup.

SL won the toss and put BAN to bat first.

Despite the quick loss of wicket BAN kept on going.

The batsman didn’t lose hope and continued to score runs and rotate strikes.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Afif Hossain’s knocks saved the game for them, and they even smashed big sixes.

With the help of the short knocks by the batsman, BAN reached a good total of 183 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva and Chamika Karunaratne took two wickets each, limiting the BAN innings.

SL needed to chase the total to earn a place in the top four.

184 runs was a total that was never chased by any team on UAE grounds.

The SL batsmen didn’t lose hope as they started great.

Kushal Mendis’s knock of 60 runs strengthens the hopes of the fans as well as the team members.

The match to getting neck to neck as there even fell of wickets.

Ebadat Hossain wasn’t letting them chase the total as he gave three breakthroughs to their team.

However, the SL batsmen didn’t give up, as they tried hard Dasun Shanaka added 45 valuable and important runs in the total.

The knock by him brought them closer to victory.

In the end, SL took the victory away from BAN and made their way into the top four of the Asia Cup.

Kushal Mendis was chosen as the Player of the Match for his knock of 60 runs and two catches.

Through this run chase, SL became the team to chase the highest total, and this became their second-biggest chase victory.
