Canada has on Friday provided the United States with the allowance to proceed with the extradition of Chinese giant tech Huawei chief executive officer (CEO) Meng Wanzhou, who was detained by Canada last year in December.

According to ANI news reports, Canadian department of justice has confirmed that Meng, who has been under house arrest, will appear before the court again on March 6 (Wednesday) in Vancouver, and later will schedule the date for Meng’s case hearing that could result in her extradition to New York.

Candian officials said the justice department’s decision followed a “thorough and diligent review” of all the evidence in Meng’s case, as the department was “satisfied” about “sufficient evidence” for the case to be taken under court procedure.

If Meng found not guilty and the court’s judge approves her extradition to the US then the Canadian minister of justice will have to announce the final decision in her case. Furthermore, if she gets extradited to the US and then she will have to face a trial there.

Huawei CEO was arrested in Canada last year in December while transferring planes at the Vancouver International Airport en route to Mexico from Hong Kong. Meng was alleged for violating the US sanctions imposed on Iran. Later in January, the US department of justice announced around 13 criminal charges against Meng.
