US House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that on behalf of the US Senate and House, an invitation has been sent to NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg to address a joint meeting of the US Congress.

According to Sputnik news reports, Pelosi has announced the invitation through a press release. In her letter to Stoltenberg on Monday, Pelosi wrote, “It is my honour as Speaker, on behalf of the bipartisan leadership of the House of Representatives and the Senate, to extend to you an invitation to address a Joint Meeting of the two houses of Congress … at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.”

Stoltenberg is scheduled to visit Washington DC to attend a celebration ceremony of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the NATO alliance.

In the letter, Pelosi further wrote: “During this critical time for the United States, NATO and the European Union, the U.S. Congress and the American people look forward to your message of friendship and partnership, as we work together to strengthen our critical alliance and advance a future of peace around the world.”

Pelosi has extended an invitation to Stoltenberg aiming to work together to bolster their critical alliance and advance a future of peace around the globe.
